OCD
Are you noticing that you have to bite your nails, pick your skin, pull your hair, and that when you do you feel some sort of relief that you did?
You may have an OCD Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Vizzini can be of help.
When it seems like you can't get control over your mind telling you irrational thoughts about germs, dirt, and other fears (an obsession)without doing something (a compulsion) to relieve the anxiety, you may be suffering from OCD or an OCD related disorder.
It begins with obsessions. A part of the brain seems stuck (some younger clients call it "Stuck Brain". There's a repetitive pattern to the content of thought and the thoughts are so disturbing and believable that a ritual (compulsion) is formed to lower anxiety. Unfortunately, like an addiction, the rituals eventually control you.
OCD is smart and likes to be sneaky about getting you to count, pray, check, worry, avoid, but once you face your FEARS (false evidence that appears real), I can support you in taking charge and fighting back the OCD obsessions and compulsions. Scrupulosity, a form that affects moral and religious peoples, causes you to believe that sin is involved in the obsessive thoughts. This is a particularly painful part of this disorder for which I am specifically trained.
Together we make a plan based on your SUDS (Subjective Units of Distress) and have you do experiments with returning to more ordinary behaviors and thinking in increments you can handle (systematic desensitization).
